Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, widely recognized for his bold views on societal issues, spoke out against the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata.
Vivek, who actively joined the protest rally from Maula Ali to Dorina Crossing in Kolkata, emphasized the need for real action over digital gestures. Reflecting on the situation, he stressed the importance of moving beyond online posts and using his influence to inspire on-ground activism, urging others to get involved in making a tangible difference.

He underscored the need to inspire the youth to take meaningful action beyond online engagement.

By leading through example and participating in protests, he believed that individuals would be motivated to move beyond social media and actively contribute to the cause. He emphasized that true change demanded physical presence and activism, which was why he was on the ground fighting for his beliefs.

He highlighted his focus on two critical issues: women’s safety and the right to life. He pointed out that many women lived in fear of stepping outside, and even minor offenses like eve-teasing undermined their dignity and safety.

Reflecting on his initial reaction to the tragic incident, Agnihotri admitted he was deeply shocked. He found it hard to grasp that such a crime could occur in a hospital, a place once considered sacred and secure. He was in denial for the first 48 hours, describing the situation as even worse than it currently appeared.
When asked about the surge of social media support from celebrities, Agnihotri dismissed any concern about the involvement of the entertainment industry. Embracing a “walk alone” philosophy, he emphasized that the focus should be on those who were speaking out, rather than those who were silent.
