Robert Cada was on the run from the law for about 48 hours.

But, wanted in Toronto’s 38th homicide of 2021, his run is now over.

And Toronto Police sources say the 32-year-old Toronto man wanted for the alleged vehicular homicide of a man outside a club on Polson Street is now behind bars.

“Robert Cada is in custody,” said a police source. “He will be in court Thursday morning.” College Park’s 507 court by video link, to be precise.

It’s still unclear how he was captured. What is known is there was a massive manhunt for him after the incident in which 25-year-old Jamil Nazarali, of Uxbridge, was run down by a truck after what witnesses say was an argument and fight between he and the suspect.

A second man was also struck by this truck but did not receive life-threatening wounds.

Cada will be formally charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder Thursday but this investigation is still very much under way as police review video evidence and take statements from witnesses.

From all accounts, Nazarali was a much-loved young man who appears to have run across trouble inside the lakeside nightclub Monday night and ended up dead along the side the road.

His brother said he will have more to say on his life and legacy, and reaction to the murder, in the coming days.

Meanwhile, police continue to probe Cada’s past as well.

As reported in the Toronto Sun Wednesday, it is on record that he is before the courts on gun and drug charges from 2020 in London, Ont. and was one of the five people targeted in the Eaton Centre shooting in 2012.

He will be before the court Thursday to make his first appearance on this latest charge.

For now, he’s now incarcerated.
