CSK has received some good news in terms of their injuries ahead of the crucial RCB clash as Deepak Chahar has returned to bowling in the nets ahead of the match on May 18, Saturday. Chahar had suffered an injury during the PBKS match at the Chepauk on May 5 and has been out of action since then. CSK has been struggling with absences in the bowling front towards the last stretch of the season.
CSK are already without Matheesha Pathirana, who has returned home to Sri Lanka to step up his injury recovery ahead of the T20 World Cup. Mustafizur Rahman had left after the PBKS game at Chepauk for the Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe series ahead of the T20 World Cup as well. Chennai had since used Richard Gleeson in the role as foreign pacer. Chahar posted a video of him bowling in the nets and the Indian pacer seemed to be going at full tilt.

It remains to be seen if Chahar would be fit in time for the match at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday as he could still be working on his fitness before the IPL 2024 Playoffs.

The IPL 2024 hasn’t been a great one for Chahar before he was struck by injury. The pacer picked up just 5 wickets from 8 matches with an average of 40.4 at an economy-rate of 8.59. Tushar Deshpande is currently the leading wicket-taker for CSK this season with 16 wickets from 12 matches with an average of 23.43.
The next two on the list is Mustafizur and Pathirana who won’t be expected to be back for the rest of the campaign for CSK. Chahar’s return will be welcome news for the Chennai faithful as they look to seal their IPL 2024 playoffs spot with a win over RCB in Bengaluru.
