NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has predicted she will on Monday record over 100 new locally acquired coronavirus cases in a grim escalation of the state’s current outbreak.

She had earlier reported a 90-year-old southwest Sydney woman had died on Saturday, hours after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Chief Health Office Kerry Chant are expected to hold a press conference at 11am AEST on Monday. You can watch it LIVE in the video player above as soon as it’s available.

She was a close contact of a locally acquired case and was believed to be unvaccinated.

Her death is the first since the Bondi cluster emerged on June 16, and the first connected to COVID-19 in NSW since a man died in December.
