The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) team registered three more FIRs on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 31 in connection with post-poll violence-related allegations of murder and rape, following Calcutta High Court’s order of CBI investigation on August 19. The agency officials visited Nandigram at the residence of post-poll violence victim Debabrata Maity on Tuesday.

The CBI team visited Nandigram and met Debabrata Maity’s family members. They also visited the spot where Trinamool Congress Supremo met with an accident ahead of the assembly polls and spoke to the locals in Nandigram.

Another team visited Haradhan Ray’s house in Coochbehar. Haradhan was murdered during post-poll violence. His wife Bharatibala Ray said, “The CBI visited our house. We expect justice from CBI from them.”

Meanwhile, CBI files application in Calcutta High Court seeking all reports, post-mortem and DNA report of deceased BJP worker Abhijit Sarkar. Sarkar was brutally murdered in Kolkata’s Beliaghata.

Meanwhile, the CBI officials on Saturday arrested two persons, first since the investigation started, in connection with the alleged murder of a BJP worker Dharma Mandal in Nadia’s Chapra since Calcutta High Court asked it to probe cases of post-poll violence.

The Calcutta High Court had, on August 19, directed a CBI probe into alleged cases of heinous crimes such as murder and rape which took place immediately after the assembly polls. The Court also constituted a special investigation team (SIT) comprising three senior state police officers to look into other cases of post-poll violence.
