The collision happened when Ryan was playing in the midfield in a bid to lift his team.
Stocker was dazed in the incident and left the ground for an HIA (head injury assessment) test.
Fortunately for Ryan, Stocker was able to return to the action.
However, the fact that Stocker was not concussed may not save Ryan, given the contact was high and his decision to bump the player.
“It looked like incidental contact but it’s had a big impact,” Nathan Buckley said during the commentary.
“I’m not sure if he slipped into it.”
There was plenty of niggle in the game with emerging superstar Harley Reid in the thick of the action.
Despite that, the Saints were far too strong for the Eagles, with Jack Sinclair running riot and forward Tim Membrey having a day out.
But in a blow for St Kilda, dashing midfielder Liam Henry appeared to hurt his knee.
There were disturbing scenes when he called for assistance and two of the medical staff had to physically carry him off the field in the third quarter.
