Woman charged after her partner is allegedly poisoned with antifreeze

A woman is accused of fatally poisoning her boyfriend with antifreeze after learning he planned to break up with her after receiving a large inheritance.

Steven Riley Jr, 51, from North Dakota, US, became ill after he met with a lawyer on September 3 to get the money, witnesses told investigators.

According to Minot Police Department records, his girlfriend, Ina Thea Kenoyer, called 911 the next day and paramedics found Riley unresponsive. He was taken to hospital and died on September 5.

She told investigators he was entitled to some of Riley’s inheritance as his common-law wife and planned to split the money, which she estimated to be about $30 million, with his son, the records show.

She is being held without bail and is representing herself, court records show.

“This case was extremely complex,” Minot Police Department Investigations Commander Captain Dale Plessas said.

“Thank you to everyone who provided us with information that helped our investigators piece this together.”
