A woman who allegedly breached a hotel quarantine direction to go nightclubbing and shopping in Perth has been charged by police.

The 33-year-old American woman arrived in Perth from Cairns last Friday and was ordered to go into hotel quarantine for 14 days.

Police allege the US national breached quarantine conditions on five separate occasions.

She is accused of leaving her accommodation to go nightclubbing, to visit a licensed cafe, and to go shopping in Perth’s CBD.

The woman has returned a negative COVID result, WA Police confirmed on Wednesday.

She has been charged with five counts of failure to comply with a direction and was due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The charges come after a man allegedly escaped hotel quarantine in Perth by tying bedsheets together to create a makeshift rope.

The 39-year-old man had arrived in WA from Brisbane on Monday.

He was found not to have a G2G pass, which is required for travellers from Queensland.

After being offered the opportunity to acquire one post-arrival, it was refused because he did not have a satisfactory reason to be entering WA from Queensland.

The man was ordered to leave WA inside 48 hours, and was directed into hotel quarantine overnight.

About 12.45am on Tuesday, he allegedly escaped from a fourth-floor window and climbed down the building by a rope made from bed sheets.

Police located him eight hours later in Mount Lawley.

He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday and did not apply for bail.

He will now see out the rest of his quarantine behind bars.
