A 500-year-old brewery called Neuzeller Klosterbräu has invented the world’s first powdered beer. The brewery claims to have over 40 additional alcoholic beverages in development, alongside their current creations of ginger beer, cherry beer, and anti-aging beer. This powdered beer can be made by simply adding water to 45g of powder, resulting in the same amount of beer as a regular bottle. Neuzeller Klosterbräu is confident that they will soon be able to add alcohol and carbon dioxide in powdered form as well. The brewery plans to target Asian and African markets, where there is less of a traditionalist mindset about beer, and where the environmental transport benefits would be even more significant. They are also exploring creative possibilities with the powdered beer, such as creating a “bath beer” that allows beer enthusiasts to experience a unique bathing experience. The brewery currently produces 42 different types of beer, including gluten-free and non-alcoholic varieties. This powdered beer could potentially be added to a bottle in-store and filled with water to serve customers in bars and restaurants. It is the first product of its kind in the world and is unique because it is carbonated.
