Where good news shines
The Nikola Jokic mea culpas are rolling in.
First up: Stephen A. Smith.
Smith, the boisterous ESPN commentator, wants a mulligan. After predicting the Timberwolves would sweep the Nuggets following a 2-0 series start, Smith on Wednesday issued an apology.
“I sit before y’all a very humbled individual,” Smith said on ESPN.
Smith is good buds with Mark Schlereth, the former Broncos lineman who now works as a morning show host on Denver Sports 104.3 FM.
“I got to tell you something: If Denver wins this series, if Denver ends up going to the Finals… not only am I going on (Schlereth’s) show. I might personally go on a damn apology tour throughout the city of Denver,” Smith said. “That’s how embarrassed I am by what I have seen Minnesota do over these last three games.”
The Nuggets still have work to do before popping bottles. But if the local ballclub completes its repeat title bid in June, let’s do Stephen A. one better: Stay on parade.
Here’s a hunch Joker would love to host Stephen A. Smith on his firetruck through LoDo.
