Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly starred in the gripping psychological thriller Eden Lake years before landing her role as the fierce Beth Dutton.
Fans of the acclaimed Paramount Network drama have gotten to know her as one of the show’s most iconic characters across five seasons and she’ll be returning to screens very soon.
However, before jetting off to join Kevin Costner in Montana, Kelly starred in a number of popular British flicks, including Pride & Prejudice and the Robert Downey Jr-led Sherlock Holmes blockbusters.
One of her earlier leading roles was in this riveting survival thriller which showcases the star’s talents, perfect for fans of Yellowstone who want to see where it all began for Kelly.
It’s now available to stream for free with an Amazon Prime Video subscription, so add Eden Lake straight to your watchlist for the next time you need a heart-stopping thriller to wrap up your evening with a bang.
A synopsis for the film reads: “When a couple goes to a remote lake for a romantic getaway, their quiet weekend is shattered by an aggressive group of kids.
“Rowdiness quickly turns to rage as the teens terrorize them, and a weekend outing becomes a battle for survival.”
Directed by James Watkins in his feature debut, Eden Lake also stars Michael Fassbender before he shot to fame with roles in Shame and X-Men: First Class.
BAFTA Rising Star Award winner Jack O’Connell also co-stars; he went on to receive acclaim for Starred Up, ‘71 and The North Water.
Filmmaker James has also gone onto success following his stunning debut, helming the massively popular horror film The Woman in Black and the upcoming thriller Speak No Evil, starring James McAvoy.
Don’t just take our word for it, though; film buffs are still obsessed with the underrated flick an incredible 16 years after its initial 2008 release.
“EDEN LAKE (2008) serves as one of the best examples of the bleak and unforgiving nature of ‘00s horror,” one horror fan said on X (formerly Twitter). “That ending still gives me chills.”
Another fan labelled the film: “British horror at its best let’s be real.”
While another viewer had a warning for even the most hardened of thriller fans: “EDEN LAKE (2008) remains one of the most monstrously unpleasant viewing experiences in modern mainstream horror cinema.
“The whole film is a bad trip, filled with unflinching violence and characters making awful decisions. Watch it if you want to ruin your day.”
And another echoed the sentiment: “Finally saw Eden Lake. So tense it was hard to watch. Super compelling performance by Kelly Reilly.”
Yellowstone season 5, part 2 premieres Sunday, November 10 on Paramount. Eden Lake is available to stream on Prime Video.
