A 16-year-old boy, who was in the front passenger seat, died, NSW Police said.

“The 17-year-old red P-plate driver was airlifted to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he is in a critical but stable condition,” NSW Police said.

The four other boys, one aged 16 and the other three aged 17, were travelling in the back seat of the ute at the time.

They were transported to the Royal North Shore Hospital where they currently remain, at least three of whom are understood to be in a serious but stable condition.
