Zendaya’s Challengers press tour is continuing on—and so are her high-fashion serves. All month long, the actor has been using the red carpet as an opportunity to perfect method dressing: All of her sporty-chic outfits have nodded to the film’s tennis focus. This was certainly the case for her latest photo call in Rome today. The star wore a custom Loewe dress that featured a deep-V and a pleated mini skirt, which was very reminiscent of the outfits that tennis pros actually wear on the court. But it was her surreal shoes that were the true star of the ensemble.

Custom-designed by Loewe, Zendaya wore a pair of pointed white pumps; They featured pin-thin heels, each one puncturing a tennis ball. Talk about a smash hit—the cheeky shoes were the perfect whimsical touch for the look.
It’s not the first time Loewe has delivered shoes with a sense of humor. Some of their past heels have featured nail polish bottles, makeup brushes, roses, and even broken eggs. The tennis touch, however, was perfect for Zendaya. I’m still hoping for a red carpet where she wears something shaped like a tennis racket—be it a purse or earrings. Sure, she did the Loewe racket dress, but now that we know 3-D fashion is on the table, we want something even more over-the-top! If anyone could pull it off, it’s her.
