1 dead, 1 injured in plane crash into Newberg home

A small plane crashed into a home in Newberg on Tuesday night, killing two people and injuring another inside the plane, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

TVF&R spokesperson Jacob Fuhrer said people began calling 911 at around 7 p.m. to report a plane spiraling toward the ground.

The plane crashed into the home off North Cedar Street.

No one on the ground was injured.

Initially, Fuhrer said there was no one inside the home when the plane crashed into it, but after officials interviewed the homeowners, they discovered that there were people inside, but they got out safely.

Crews quickly determined that one of the people inside the plane was dead. Later, after gaining more access to the plane, they discovered another person, who was also dead. A third person was flown to the hospital in a helicopter. That person was seriously injured.

The crash created a large hole in the roof, and the plane came to rest inside the home. The plane was still inside the home shortly before 9 p.m.

Fuhrer said what caused the plane to crash would be investigated by the FAA and NTSB.

TVF&R is working with the Red Cross to help those who lived in the home and were displaced because of the crash.
