11.40 kg gold and electronic goods worth Rs 8 crores seized at airport | India News

MUMBAI: The Airport Commissionerate, Mumbai Customs Zone-III in last one week seized over 11.40 Kg Gold & Electronics goods totally valued at Rs. 7.46 Cr in 24 separate cases. Officials said that due to surge in gold prices the profits in smuggling too increased and increased the risk. Smugglers smuggled gold hiding concealing inside clothes, sanitary pad, trolly, undergarments and inside and on the bodies.
In the first case the Customs intercepted two Indian nationals travelling from Dubai for smuggling 2 kgs of gold dust in wax concealed inside the sanitary pad and in-cloths.Two pax were arrested. In another case two Foreign nationals travelling from Nairobi and Abu Dhabi were intercepted and found carrying 1.2 kgs of gold concealed inside the rectum and in the dress worn by her.
In another case a Indian national travelling from Sharjah was intercepted and caught for smuggling I-phones 15 Pro (128 GB) (08 pcs), I-phones 15 Pro Max (256 GB) (02 pc), Iphones 13 Pro (128 GB) (07 pcs refurbished) ,I-phone 13 Pro (256 GB) (01 pcs), HP Laptops (12 pcs), Dell Laptop totally valued at Rs. 23.30 lakhs was found concealed inside the backpack carried by the pax.
Besides this 17 Indian nationals travelling from Dubai (06), Bangkok (05), Sharjah (01), Bahrain (01), Abu Dhabi (01), Jeddah (01), Addis Ababa (01) and Doha (01) were intercepted and found carrying 5 kgs gold concealed inside clothes, sanitary pad, trolly, undergarments and on the body of the pax.
During rummaging, 24 KT Gold Dust in wax (02 pouches) with a net weight of 1970.000 grams valued at Rs. 1,25,95,648/- and 24 KT Gold Bars (12) with a net weight of 1399.000 grams valued at Rs. 89,44,828/- were respectively found concealed under the toilet seat and in the pocket of a seat on the aircraft.
