3 dead in Hanover PA stabbing incident: Suspect died at hospital

Three people are dead and another was severely wounded after a stabbing in Hanover Thursday, according to police.

According to a release by the Hanover Borough Police Department, police were called to the scene at 10:12 a.m. Thursday for a reported stabbing. They arrived and found a 27-year-old male with severe injuries outside of the home, who indicated to officers that other injured people were inside the home.

Inside that home, police found a deceased 17-year-old male, and a deceased 49-year-old female, the release said.

Police then found a 50-year-old male in the alleyway behind the home with severe injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, police said, and then succumbed to his injuries.

“The incident is believed to be isolated to the people listed above and there is no danger to the community,” the release states.

Police asked that anyone with additional information, or camera footage of the area, call the department at 717-637-5575.

Rogelio Arvizu, 50, of Hanover was charged with two counts of criminal homicide and two counts of attempted criminal homicide in connection with a stabbing incident at a home at 950 East Walnut St. in Hanover borough Thursday morning, according to a criminal docket.

Multiple people were stabbed and the York County Coroner was called after an incident inside a home at 950 East Walnut St. in Hanover borough Thursday morning.

Two people were seen transported in ambulances from the scene, which took place near Hanover High School in a quiet, residential neighborhood. The school is on holiday break and not in session.

The first call was made at 10:10 a.m., bringing a large response of police and ambulances to the scene.

A second person was later found around 11:55 a.m. in the alleyway behind the Walnut Street address after police were flagged down by a neighbor who spotted the man. The man was bloody and handcuffed as he was loaded into an ambulance.

York County Emergency Management spokesman Ted Czech said two people had been found with stab wounds.

As police and ambulances first arrived to the scene, officers with guns drawn and a riot shield worked to secure the area surrounding the house on the corner of East Walnut and Witmer Avenue. Officers were seen clearing multiple sheds and vehicles surrounding the house.

A York County Sheriff’s Department K9 unit arrived at 11:39 a.m., and a mobile forensic unit from York arrived at just after 1 p.m.

Investigators were seen swabbing what appeared to be blood on a fence behind the house, leaving evidence markers around the yard.

Police taped off the sidewalk around 950 East Walnut and down to the alleyway, with municipal crews placing road blocks to block Witmer Avenue at East Walnut and Broadway, as well as alleyways.

Hanover Borough Police Department has not yet released a statement on the incident. Hanover Borough Police Chief Chad Martin was seen on the scene.
