350 Ola Cabs Flooded in Noida Despite Authorities’ Warnings: Watch

A video showing hundreds of submerged cars in what seems to be a parking yard has been going viral online. The visuals are from Noida’s Ecotech 3 locality which is a low-lying area and was flooded after the Hindon tributary of the Yamuna river overflowed over the weekend. The water levels in the Hendon rose to 201.5 metres due to an increase in water discharge. After the video of the submerged vehicles went viral online, Gautam Buddh Nagar, District Magistrate, Manish Kumar Verma’s office put out a tweet stating that the cars belong to a private cab company which had been warned to remove the cars but no action was taken.
The tweet posted by Twitter@DM G. B. Nagar, states, “A private company has built its own unauthorized yard in the submergence area of the Hindon River, which has not removed the vehicles parked here even after repeated warnings. Normal life has not been affected in any way here and there has been no loss of life.” In terms of the loss, the yard reportedly had 350 private cabs parked inside, which can now be assumed as a total loss or flood affected.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Noida DCP (Central), Anil Yadav, had issued two notices to Ola Cabs via the police administration to remove the vehicles which were at risk of getting flooded. This was done as the police were conducting evacuation efforts in the surrounding villages near the yard.
While there is no official statement from Ola regarding the parking yard or the cabs, the fact that the administration has issued warnings and notices for the removal of the parked cabs may become a hurdle in claiming insurance for the flood-related damage caused to the vehicles. As were have reported earlier, flood-damaged vehicles are better scrapped than resurrected as the water damage can be expensive to repair.
