Accusations of Racketeering and Copyright Infringement Leveled Against Fast Fashion Giant Shein

Three independent designers have filed a lawsuit against Chinese retailer Shein, accusing the company of copyright infringement and racketeering. The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California Western Division, alleges that Shein uses a secret algorithm to identify and replicate emerging trends and designs. The designers claim that Shein has built a multi-billion-dollar empire by using this algorithm and a corporate structure that facilitates the illegal aspects of their design theft. Shein has faced previous lawsuits related to intellectual property theft and has also been criticised for labour rights violations in China. The designers are seeking unspecified damages and want to hold Shein accountable for their actions.
