A Perth teen who was told he was dehydrated when he was actually battling brain cancer says he can’t wait to go home after spending months in hospital.
Fergus Egerton-Warburton was walking the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea with his father when he began suffering from headaches, vomiting, double vision and loss of balance.

He was sent away by local doctors with a suspected virus and dehydration but continued to deteriorate.
It wasn’t until his health insurer pushed for further investigation that it was discovered the 16-year-old had a cancerous brain tumour.
Medulloblastoma affects around five West Australian children every year.
Fergus was flown home to Perth and has spent almost four months at Perth Children’s Hospital undergoing intense treatment.
He even had to learn how to walk and talk again, but on Friday was finally discharged.
“I’m just looking forward to my bed and my dog,” he said.
His dad David Egerton-Warburton said it was an exciting time, but that there are challenges on the horizon.
“His recovery will speed up even more being in his own bed, in his own house and all that sort of stuff,” he said.
“But it brings us new challenges.
“Now we have to work out how to care for Ferg without this amazing team (of hospital staff) around us.”
Fergus said he has dreams of tackling the Kokoda Track again.
