Author of the book ‘Coming Out As Dalit,’ Yashica Dutt had recently called out the makers of ‘Made In heaven 2‘ for basing Radhika Apte’s character on her life and not crediting her for the same. Now, Zoya Akhtar has not only reacted to the news but also lent a clarification on the same.

In her post, she wrote, ‘We are deeply disturbed with the misleading reports and comments in context of author Yashica Dutt claiming formal credit for her ‘contribution’ for Made In Heaven, a show set around wedding planners and remarkable brides who challenge prejudices deeply ingrained in our society.’

After explaining the story of the episode, ‘The Heart Skips A Beat’, she added, ‘None of the above is drawn from Yashica Dutt’s life or her book – ‘Coming Out As Dalit’.

She concluded by saying, ‘We made the show with sincerity, passion and a beating heart and are overwhelmed with the love we have received. We will continue to platform stories and voices that are truly bigger than us’.

As soon as the director shared the post, comments poured in from all sides. A fan wrote, ‘This is sad man. So much work went into the show . You can tell as a viewer. Don’t diminish great artistry!
