ALDI ice cream maker recalled over fears leaking coolant risks of ‘serious illness’

An ALDI ice cream maker sold just before Christmas across Australia has been recalled after a defect prompted fears the product could cause serious illness.

The detachable quick-freeze bowl of the Ambiano Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker, if pierced, can leak a coolant into the ice cream mixture, and consumers have been urged to immediately stop using the product.

“The freezer bowl contains clear coloured coolant and if the bowl is pierced the coolant can leak into the ice cream mixture during the mixing process,” the Product Safety Australia recall said.
