Last month ETimes reported that Alia Bhatt will be seen in an action avatar in her upcoming production Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. The rescue- revenge drama also stars ‘The Archies’ star Vedang Raina and he plays Alia’s brother in the film. We also shared that Vasan had roped in action director Vikram Dahiya who he is known for films like Prabhas’ ‘Saaho’, Veneet Kumar Singh’s ‘Mukkebaaz’, Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl’ and Tiger Shroff’s ‘Ganapath – Part 1’.
Now ETimes has exclusively learnt that Alia Bhatt has taken to basketball for the film. She has considerable portions in ‘Jigra’ where she will be seen playing the game. Our sources also revealed to us that Alia has undergone some serious coaching to play the game on screen and has been trained by some of the best players in the city.
Our source further shared that both Alia and Vasan wanted the basketball portions to look as authentic as possible, as it has a major connection with the entire storyline of the film. Hence Alia put in those extra hours to understand the game, the rules and also learn the basic movements like dribble and double dribble and how to pass and how to dunk the ball in the basket and many other things. A special basketball coach was also present on the sets to choreograph the portions.
‘Jigra’ not only stars Alia but she has also co-produced it with Karan Johar’s production house. It’s slated to release on September 27. It is also the month where Alia’s next film ‘Love And War’ with Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali goes on floors.
