Amado’s, a San Francisco music venue, battles for survival following devastating flood

Amado’s, a bar and live music venue located in the Mission District of San Francisco, is facing significant financial challenges due to flood damage. In a Facebook post, Amado’s expressed the severity of the situation, especially considering ongoing costly renovations. The estimated cost of repairs is around $500,000, as stated in a GoFundMe campaign created for the venue. The flood occurred during a Pride Month event when a patron accidentally triggered the fire suppression system, causing vast amounts of water to flood the basement. Despite the damage, Amado’s remains open, offering live music and drinks on the upper levels of the building while the basement is closed. Owner David Quinby emphasized the overwhelming support received from the community and expressed dedication to keep the venue operational and the music flowing. Quinby also highlighted the resilience of the building, which has withstood numerous challenges throughout its 150-year existence and remains determined not to give up.
