Amazon has said that it is laying off fewer than 5% of employees in its Buy with Prime unit. the e-commerce giant continues to cut jobs to “make adjustments based on the needs of the business.” A total of 30 employees in the Buy with Prime will be let go.
Buy with Prime unit was launched in 2022 and it gives retailers, who are not Amazon merchants, fulfilment and delivery services through its logistics network.Amazon didn’t specify the number of staffers in its Buy with Prime unit.
“We regularly review the structure of our teams and make adjustments based on the needs of the business and, following a recent review, we’ve made the difficult decision to eliminate a small number of roles on our Buy with Prime team,” CNBC quoted an Amazon spokesperson as saying.
Amazon reportedly said it is supporting the laid-off staff to find roles inside and outside the company. As per the spokesperson, Buy with Prime remains “a top priority for Amazon” and the company plans to continue investing “significant resources” in the program.

The e-commerce giant laid off 27,000 employees last year in two rounds. First, the company eliminated 18,000 roles in the company and then further reduced the headcount by 9,000.
Job cuts at the company continued in 2024 as the e-commerce giant continued to trim the staff in specific divisions, including Prime Video and MGM Studios. Several job cuts were also announced in its Twitch live-streaming platform and Audible audiobook unit.
Twitch said it plans to lay off approximately 35% of its staff, equating to around 500 roles. CEO Dan Clancy said that the company is reevaluating its size relative to its business scale. Amazon also announced job cuts in Audible and is laying off about 5% of its workforce.
In a memo to employees, Audible CEO Bob Carrigan said the company is in good shape but faces an “increasingly challenging landscape.”
