Anand Mahindra spots unique single rear wheel ‘rickshaw’: Eyes future production

Mahindra & Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, who always has an eye for innovation and technology, has posted a video of a unique ‘rickshaw’ on his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle. Mahindra spotted the vehicle in Manhattan, New York City.
“I spot this ‘three wheeler’ in Manhattan. It’s no commercial rickshaw! And it’s certainly not about last-mile-mobility.This one has style oozing out of it. One day from an Indian company? After all, we’re the global heavyweights in 3-wheelers” he wrote as he eyed the local production of the vehicle in India.

Now, we have identified the three-wheeler for you and it is manufactured by Canada-based Campagna Motors. Christened the ‘T-Rex RR,’ it is a two-seat, three-wheeled three-wheeler which draws its power from a water-cooled, in-line 4-cylinder engine sourced from Kawasaki. The power mill on this unique vehicle is mated to a six-speed MT and produces 208 hp and 160 Nm of peak torque.
Going by the design and specs of it, the T-Rex looks to be a vehicle that combines the power of a car with the maneuverability and practicality of a motorcycle. It has a low center of gravity and a wide track, thereby making it stable at turns.

Mahindra, being someone not afraid to invest in technologies, showing interest in the T-Rex is a sign that these vehicles have the potential to be successful.
Although, this vehicle does not appear to be best suited for last-mile mobility even if it gets an electric powertrain in future. It is because it hasn’t got much space to carry shipments. However, if at all, any Indian company plans to manufacture something of its kind, it must come as an EV with design tweaks made to house a battery pack and leave enough room for storage.
