Apple to update unsold iPhones in stores without opening the box, here’s how

Apple has come with a new idea where it is planning to update all the iPhone in the stores within the packaging. Sounds interesting right. The company has reportedly come up with a new system that will allow for iOS updates to be applied to unsold iPhones that are still in Apple Stores, reports Mark Gurman in its latest Power On newsletter.
iPhones to install updates within the box
The in-box update system is applicable to older devices as well as to the newer devices as well. For instance, you bought an iPhone 14 which launched with the iOS 16 update and then it requires the iOS 17 update which is now available to all compatible iPhones. The same applies to iPhone 15 which required iOS 17.0.1 update soon after the launch. Now, all this could be done within the box right in the stores without opening the packaging.
This will solve a big problem for users
Most of the time when users buy a new phone, they usually end up discovering that there are several new updates that are pending and then get forced to install the update before being able to use the phone.
With this new system, users will no longer have to install the update manually right out of the box as the phones will come out with the latest version of the operating system available at the moment.
How this will work
Gurman has mentioned that Apple Store will get a pad-like device on which the box will be placed. This will turn on the iPhone wirelessly and push the latest software update and then turn it off again.
Right now, this is applicable for iPhones. However, it would be great to see it Apple push this to more devices in its catalog. Also, the new update system is likely to become a norm by the end of the year.
