Aprilia RS440 teased: Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Ninja 400 rival’s India launch next week

Rumours of Aprilia launching a new 400 cc faired sportbike in India have been going around on the internet for quite some time now, with test mules of the said motorcycle having also been spied in the country. Now, Aprilia India has released a teaser of a new motorcycle on its social media handles, hinting that it is indeed the RS440 as rumours suggest, also confirming that it is set to be launched on September 7.

The teaser reveals a silhouette of the sportbike, while the caption reads “Here’s proof you can fall in love on a blind date”. The image teases the red and black dual-tone paint finish of the motorcycle and the Aprilia badging on the nose. The motorcycle looks like it takes inspiration from the company’s RSV4 superbike.
However, while the RSV4 makes use of a 1,100 cc four-cylinder motor, the India-bound RS440 is expected to be equipped with a 440 cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine with a power output of about 48 hp. The engine will likely be mated to a 6-speed transmission with a quickshifter. Other features could include a digital instrument panel, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-channel ABS, traction control, and more.

Upon arrival, the Aprilia RS440 will directly rival the Kawasaki Ninja 400 in the Indian market, however, a new competitor is being readied by Yamaha in the form of R3, also set to go on sale very soon. That said, the Aprilia RS440 will also face competition from more affordable faired 400 cc sportbikes, KTM RC390, TVS Apache RR 310, as well as BMW G310 RR, among others.
