Yami Gautam’s Article 370 is turning out to the sleeper hit of the year as even in its fourth week, the film has manage to engage the audience and bring in huge revenue for its makers. The film in its first three weeks had already minted about Rs 69.05 crore and everyone had expected the film to slowly disappear from the cinema halls, but the film has shown a fighting spirit just like the character played by Yami Gautam in the film. In its fourth week, the film added another Rs 5.07 crore into its kitty as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The total collection of the film currently stands at Rs 74.12 crore.
On Friday, the film had earned just Rs 65 lakhs, but on Saturday and Sunday it showed a spike to collect Rs1.2 crore and Rs 1.5 crore respectively. On Monday, the film dropped to Rs 40 lakhs but since then it has been steady at the box office collecting on average Rs 40 lakhs everyday. On Tuesday it earned Rs 45 lakhs, on Wednesday it added the same amount and on Thursday, it collected Rs 42 lakhs, taking the fourth week collection to Rs 5.07 crore. The film has turned out to be a major spinner for everyone involved in the film, as the reported budget of the film is just Rs 20 crore.
The film in its first week earned Rs 35.6 crore, in second week it added Rs 22.3 crore, in third week it added another Rs 11.3 crore . The film’s business does seem to get impacted by the release of Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan and Siddharth Malhotra’s Yodha, but the film has managed to find its audience and its tax free status in Madhya Pradesh has also added more audience members to the film.
The film will continue to be Yami’s 5th biggest hit till date and seems very unlikely to jump up the ranking, as her next biggest money spinner was Rakesh Roshan’s Kaabil which minted over Rs 100 crore at the box office.
