Despite teasers, test mule sightings, and camouflaged images, much about the scooter remains unknown. There are anticipations around the model’s performance compared to the 450 siblings, its suitability for families, and whether it shares its skin and bones with the 450 models. We spoke to Ravneet S Phokela, CBO, Ather Energy to know more about the Rizta.

Ather Rizta: Based on the 450 platform, will have multiple variants
The Rizta will be based on the 450 platform but optimized for families (possibly with a different battery or motor combination). “The range offered by Rizta will be adequate to meet the range requirements of a typical family,” said Phokela.
The company has confirmed that the Rizta will come in multiple variants at various price points. Like the Ather 450X, it may offer multiple battery options, with ranges of 150 km and 111 km, respectively, for the 3.7 kWh and 2.9 kWh battery options. However, this is something that will only be known on the day of launch.
Ather Rizta: Family-oriented electric scooters the next big deal
“The 450 series was about performance, but we recognized a growing demand for family-oriented scooters, a segment that has a market share of over 5 million at present” said Phokela.
“In the performance scooter segment, Ather is already commanding a sizable market share among EVs which is around 65-70 thousand units a month or roughly 8,00,000 units a year. However, the real growth for the next generation of EV scooters is in the family segment.” he added.
“The 450 series was about performance, but we recognized a growing demand for family-oriented scooters. Rizta prioritizes space, safety, and comfort to cater to diverse family needs.”
Ather Rizta: Practicality on focus but not devoid of features
As per the company, the EV will boast the largest seat and storage capacity in the scooter segment. While practicality is a focus, Rizta isn’t devoid of modern features. Pholeka said that the company has worked extensively on the dynamics, safety, and features of the model. “ We have given the Rizta an upright riding stance to make it comfortable to ride in the city. We also tuned the suspension to offer a plush ride enhancing the comfort for the rider.
Besides, USB charging, an important feature in modern-day two-wheelers, is confirmed. Moreover, the company has also confirmed that the Rizta will boast of an array of safety features besides getting modern-day feature treatment. These might include a 7-inch TFT with bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and more.
