Aussie woman’s shock after mysterious voicemail leads to $100k lotto win

A Victorian woman has revealed how a mysterious voicemail message led to her discovering that she’d won $100,000 in a recent lottery draw.

The Kinglake Central resident scored the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10828, which was drawn on Monday, January 29.

But it turns out she was completely unaware of her win until she listened to a surprise voicemail left by The Lott officials, which lead to her checking her ticket.

“I couldn’t believe it.

“I was staring at my phone for a very long time.

“It’ll be a real help. I can put it towards the mortgage. It’s great.

“Thank you so much. It’s still sinking in.”

The woman’s entry of 10 random numbers was purchased online at The Lott.

The unbelievable win comes as around half of adult Australians prepare to buy a ticket in Thursday’s record-breaking $200 million draw.

The division one jackpot is the largest in Australia’s history and follows six weeks of the top prize going unclaimed.

“It’s unfathomable what winning even just a slice of next week’s $200 million Powerball Division One prize would do for you this year and the rest of your life,” The Lott spokesperson James Eddy said.

“I know I’m excited, so I can imagine Australian lottery players are rubbing their hands together at the thought of bagging $200 million and taking home the crown as the largest lottery winner in Australian history.

“To give an indication of the scale of excitement projected for the upcoming draw, the peak of sales for this week’s $150 million Powerball draw was at 6.15pm when Aussies grabbed 7,455 entries in a single minute.”
