Australia is known for its iconic beaches and many incredible tourist attractions.
However, many warn of the “biggest tourist traps” to avoid when booking a holiday.
In a now-viral Reddit post titled, “What are some of Australia’s biggest tourist traps?”, many dished on the iconic places that they believe were not worth visiting.

While there was a mix of responses, many agreed Bondi Beach was one of the most overrated beaches in the country.
“Forget Bondi,” one said.
“Would not return to Bondi,” said another.
“Literally one of the worst beaches in Australia” confirmed a third.
Others suggested Manly has a better beach than Bondi.
Queensland’s ‘Surfers Paradise’ was named as another big tourist trap — with many sharing their disappointing experiences.
“Wall to wall ways to waste your money on manufactured garbage largely targeting international tourists,” one said.
“One of the ugliest, most boring overrated places in Australia,” agreed another.
“Agreed, went there once on a family holiday and never going back,” shared a third.
People also named Australia Zoo, Belanglo State Forest, Queen Victoria Markets and Noosa as overrated places.
“Australia Zoo is hugely expensive and definitely a masterclass in branding,” one said.
“It’s a crap zoo in general,” agreed another.
Many of Queensland’s theme parks were also mentioned as major tourist traps.
Meanwhile, Sydney landmarks such as Darling Harbour and Circular Quay were also mentioned as the worst places to visit.
