Bajaj Pulsar NS400: Like double engine ki sarkar, we will pursue a double engine ka karobar: Rajiv Bajaj reveals company’s growth mantra

Bajaj Auto’s Managing Director, Rajiv Bajaj, today outlined the company’s strategy for the Indian market during an interview with CNBC TV. In an interview with CNBC TV, Rajiv Bajaj said that like a double engine ki sarkaar, we are a double engine ka karobar. We will follow a two-pronged approach for sports bikes, two-pronged approach for commuter segment and a two-pronged approach for three-wheelers.

Rajiv Bajaj emphasised that the company’s growth strategy across all segments will also follow a two-pronged approach. This involves leveraging both Bajaj’s own brands and partnership brands in the sports segment, Chetak and CNG models in the commuter segment, and CNG and electric variants in three-wheelers.

In the interview, Rajiv Bajaj criticized the government for the high prices of commuter motorcycles, attributing it to excessive taxation and regulatory norms. He pointed out the stark contrast between India’s 28% GST on commuter vehicles and the lower tax rates ranging from 14% to 18% in other countries.

Bajaj Auto also unveiled the eagerly awaited Bajaj Pulsar NS 400Z in India, starting at Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). This model is lauded as the most powerful Bajaj Pulsar yet and is positioned as the most cost-effective 400cc street-naked motorcycle in the market. Bookings for the bike are now open, requiring a deposit of Rs 5000, which can be done online or at authorized dealerships, with deliveries expected to commence soon.

The latest Pulsar model features a 373cc liquid-cooled engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox, delivering 40 PS power and 35 Nm torque. It incorporates ride-by-wire electronic throttle and offers four ride modes for optimized performance. Additionally, the bike boasts various features including an LED projector headlamp, wide tires, a fully digital color LCD speedometer with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music control, lap timer, and traction control.

Bajaj Auto also announced that it will launch its CNG-fueled bike on June 18.
