A super organised pilot has revealed how she prepares meals for a four-day work trip.

The mum said she was able to shed up to 40kg in three-and-a-half years after she counted her macros rather than follow strict diets or unrealistic workout plans.

She credits her weight loss to tracking the amount of macronutrients she eats daily – proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

“I have had some periods where I lost a lot of weight quickly and a lot of times where I just kind of plateaued. But I have continually lost weight and now I am maintaining,” she said.

“Nutrition is a much bigger component to weight loss than exercise. If you can learn to eat right, you’ll lose weight even if you’re not super active.”

To plan out her weekly meals, Roberts writes a list of all the dishes and snacks she wants to eat.

“I make a list of everything I need,” she explained.

Before heading to the supermarket, she goes through her pantry cupboards and fridge to tick off any ingredients she already has.

From there, she creates a shopping list so she knows exactly what she needs for her cooking.

Instead of storing food in containers, she uses ziplock bags to organise her breakfast, lunch, dinners and snacks.

“Everything I make goes into its own bag,” she explained.

“On the bag, I label what’s in it, which day I’m eating it and which meal. After I have that all done, I go ahead and get my groceries.”

After her grocery shop, Roberts heads straight to her kitchen for the “biggest task” – chopping.

“First I like to chop all the vegetables and separate them according to the meals,” she said.

For breakfast, she prepares muffin-sized “egg bites” filled with diced capsicum, onion, sliced potatoes, spinach and cheese.

In a muffin tray, she lined the base with sliced potatoes, followed by the egg mixture and chopped vegetables.

She baked in the oven for 20 minutes.

Roberts made eight egg bites, which she plans to eat two daily for breakfast – and she said they’re great for eating hot or cold – perfect for when she’s working.

Her second breakfast option is apples and cereal.

For lunch, she prepared a large pot of beef and barley soup – packed with vegetables.

For dinner, she makes a mix of turkey tacos and pasta.

She only prepares three nights worth of dinner as she plans to eat out later that week.

Her snacks include carrots and ranch dip, oranges, cheese crackers and mixed nuts.

“I got to have a little variety,” she said, suggesting she prepares to have different options so she doesn’t get sick of eating the same meal.

“It makes it easier to stick to the plan.”

When she’s working, she keeps her meals in a cooler bag, along with an ice pack to ensure they stay fresh.

Roberts said she usually heats up her food using the hotel’s microwave when she arrives at the destination – but most of the time, she eats them cold.

“I carry paper bowls – and use paper bowls from hotels – to heat everything up,” she said.

“If I’m working long hours, I’ll eat some things cold. Turkey taco stuff is fine cold.”

In another video, Roberts said she sticks to eating about 1885 calories per day.

“I wash everything, chop everything, cook everything and weigh it all out before putting it into its pre-labelled bags,” Roberts said.

“I’m trying to make long-term changes that are sustainable. I hate the sluggish feeling when I don’t eat enough.”

Roberts said she managed to lose weight from eating her own homecooked meals after she learned how to count her macros.

“Prepare your food at home as much as possible,” she said.

“Things that you cook at home are generally going to be better for you than things you buy out at a restaurant.”

She avoids drinking alcohol, soft drinks and fruit juices.

“I don’t drink my calories. I personally don’t drink alcohol and I don’t drink many soft drinks or juice either – but I do drink a lot of tea and water,” she said.

For those trying to lose weight, she said you should always prioritise your nutrition.

“I used to use time as an excuse to eat things that are bad for me but today I make time for my nutrition. I schedule my meals into my day,” she said.
