Best hairdryer Australia: Dyson’s next-gen Supersonic Nural hairdryer is here. Here are our thoughts

If there’s a beauty company that knows hair and all of its different styles and textures like the back of its hand, it’s Dyson.

So when the British tech giant unveils something new within its prestigious beauty tech sphere, you know you need to sit up and take notice.

The recently-released Dyson Nural hairdryer claims it is Dyson’s “most intelligent hairdryer for healthier scalp and hair” yet.

What does this mean and how does this make it better than the regular Supersonic dryer, I hear you ask?

Well, the Supersonic Nural takes everything we know and love about the regular Supersonic hairdryer and supercharges it.

Clever intuitive sensor technology works to adjust the temperature of the hairdryer, depending on how close it is to your scalp.

This means the hairdryer not only gives you a salon blow-dry from home, it also works to protect your scalp health and enhance your natural shine at the same time.

In basic terms, it’s less heat damage, less broken hair and an altogether sleeker, more professional-standard blow dry.

I’ve been testing the Dyson Nural for the past couple of weeks — and am extremely impressed.

The clever “Scalp Protect Mode” feature has sensors that automatically reduce when they get near my scalp, meaning my hair ends up less sort of frazzled or fried looking, and much more sleek.

When in “Scalp Protect Mode”, the feature ensures that the LED light colour will automatically change between cool blue or yellow (low heat), to orange (medium heat) and red (high heat), depending on the distance the machine is from the head.

The hairdryer also has a few new and improved attachments.

They include the flyaway attachment, gentle air attachment, styling concentrator, wave+curl diffuser and wide-tooth comb, along with a presentation case and instruction manual.

Alongside this, there is a “pause detect” — which helps to make styling your locks easier — and a “cool shot” button that will help to set your hairstyle in place.

While the Dyson Nural is relatively new to market, the Dyson website has already been flooded with positive reviews of the game-changing devices.

On the site, there are currently more than 440 five-star reviews.

“Impressed! Dyson has done it again,” writes one.

“Miles ahead of its predecessor, the Dyson Supersonic Nural is not just technically advanced but an absolute pleasure to use.

“I’ve found it does its job quicker, at the same time being more gentle on the scalp and hair. There is a great amount of reduction in frizz, which I have always found difficult to manage with my wavy long hair.”

Another adds: “Being an owner of the original Supersonic, I struggled with this review.

“When I first received it, I wasn’t convinced that it the Nural was worth the investment. However, having used it solidly for a few weeks, I noticed a significant difference in how my hair feels.”

While a third says: “Dyson has done it again”.
