Beyoncé flawlessly graces the cover of British Vogue’s December 2020 issue

Beyoncé never ceases to amaze me.

A day after she released her second  and quickly sold-out Ivy Park DRIP 2 collection, the Third Ward native became the latest superstar to appear on the cover of British Vogue. And as usual, she looks flawless.

Photographed by 21-year-old fan Kennedi Carter, the youngest photographer in the magazine’s history, the queen graces the front of three special covers for their December 2020 issue.

“Everyone always wants to know what it’s like to work with Beyoncé and her incredible team, and the answer is… flawless,” editor-in-chief Edward Enninful said of the experience. “A perfectionist to the core, more than anything, she wanted her Vogue moment to be filled with positivity as this trickiest of years draws to a close. As ever with Beyoncé’s goals, she got her wish.”

A woman who is known for her impact, including her ability to simultaneously remain both private and a dominant force, Enninful said Beyoncé specifically requested a woman of color to take her pictures for the shoot, and as usual, she gets her way. Every time.

“She landed on Kennedi, a gifted young fine art photographer whose work highlights the ‘overlooked beauties of the Black experience’,” as reported by Kerry McDermott with British Vogue. “Though her chosen themes certainly align with Beyoncé’s own focus in recent years – from her visual album Black Is King to the shoppable list of Black-owned businesses she published on her website to mark Juneteenth – the prestigious gig still came as a surprise to Carter.”

The young photographer shared with McDermott that she didn’t think she’d be doing something so amazing until she was much older, adding that opportunities like this are typically only available to people at the pinnacle of their careers.

I mean honestly, can you imagine what it must be like to have breathed the same air as BEYONCÉ? I’m being a bit dramatic, I know, but the Bey Hive will feel me for sure.

“I was just going with the flow. I had done a lot of research into how she works, and I had underestimated how much she’s willing to submit herself to a vision and truly become someone else’s muse,” said Carter, as reported by McDermott. Beyoncé was “just so, so nice. Plus she’s from Texas. So she has that energy.” H-town stand up!

The December issue of British Vogue hits newsstands Nov. 6, and yes, I will be a proud owner of it.
