Bindi Irwin has sent her love to her former Dancing With The Stars partner Derek Hough and his wife Hayley Erbert.
Erbert was hospitalised and underwent a craniectomy (a type of surgery to remove a portion of your skull to relieve pressure on the brain) in December, finally sitting down and reflecting on the terrifying health emergency.

“It’s been wild, going from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. But I have to say, throughout this experience, this woman has been unbelievable and her perseverance and her acceptance of the whole situation, her strength, it’s been remarkable to witness firsthand,” Hough, 38, said of his wife.
“She really is a miracle, and it’s been miraculous, and it’s still a journey.”
Meanwhile, Erbert said: “To this day, I still have really good days and I have really bad days — emotionally and physically sometimes — but I’m doing so much better every single day.”
“Truly, there is so much progress every day, and I’m so grateful for that.”
“Thank you all so much for all of your messages, your love, your energy, your light, your prayers.
“Thank you guys for all of it because it means so much to me and to us as a family. And genuinely, I believe it’s what’s gotten me through this a little bit faster, and it’s what helped me heal.
“It’s what helped me stay positive throughout the entire experience.”
“It’s a new year, it’s a new haircut,” Hough said as his wife drew attention to her short hair.
Irwin reposted the couple’s update to her Instagram story.
“Take a moment to send @hayley.erbert and @derekhough ALL the love, light and healing energy.”
Irwin and Hough won the 21st season of Dancing With the Stars in 2015.
Hough first announced the health emergency in an Instagram post on December 8.
He said at the end of a tour, Erbert, a dancer, became “disoriented and was taken to the hospital”.
It was there that she was diagnosed with an intracranial haematoma from a burst blood vessel.
A day later, he shared another update, writing that she was “on the long road of recovery”.
“Words cannot express how grateful and thankful we are for the support and love that you have given us.”
On December 16, he shared a video of the pair walking around Washington DC, in the US, writing that it has been a “challenging journey for us due to a life-threatening event that suddenly came into our lives.
“It was a time filled with uncertainty and fear, going from living our dreams onstage to a nightmare instantly.”
Hough shared that his wife’s recovery was “nothing short of a miracle,” adding that Erbert still had another surgery planned to replace the piece of her skull that was removed during the craniectomy.
“It will restore the skull to its natural shape and protect the brain from injury.”
