Plan to travel this summer? It is best to book your tickets by March for your summer vacation plans. Do no depend on any last-minute deal or online airfare sale from airlines. As Ayyappan Rajagopal, the CEO of Flipkart-owned travel portal Cleartrip, recently told Econimic times that best time to book tickets for the upcoming summer vacation season is by March.According to the report, Rajagopal advised travelers to make all their reservations by March to avoid paying higher prices for flight tickets.
Rajagopal of Cleartrip is of the view that more people are opting for short breaks instead of longer vacations, which is contributing to the overall strong demand. This summer, flight occupancy is expected to reach a record high.
It is best for air travellers to book their summer travel plans now and take advantage of the current spate of airline sales. The report quoting airline executives said that there will be a surge in Indian travelers this summer and that the number of flights may not be sufficient to meet the increased demand. This means that there will be no last-minute fire sale by carriers.
An official from a low-cost airline told the publication that sale offers are launched to fill up planes during weak sale periods and to ensure forward sales. Forward bookings are currently looking extremely strong, indicating a shift in travel behavior.
What may cause deficiency in flights
It is expected that nearly 200 planes will remain grounded due to engine issues and financial problems at weaker airlines. IndiGo, India’s largest airline, currently has 74 aircraft grounded until December. Deliveries of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft may also be further delayed, adding to the capacity constraints. Aviation consultancy firm CAPA predicts that the risk of overcapacity in the market will be deferred until 2025, as it will take time to restore grounded aircraft into service.
