Queen and Adam Lambert are kicking off 2024 with five dates in Japan this February.
And now the band have touched down, Queen fever has truly hit the Land of the Rising Sun.
Incredibly the Oricon Daily International Album Chart is currently dominated by no less than nine Queen albums in its Top 20 and all are new entries.
Ahead of a pop-up store opening in Tokyo on Saturday, Sir Brian May was greeted by a plethora of ecstatic fans on his arrival at the airport.
The 76-year-old rocker posted footage of himself signing autographs as security struggled to keep back the enthusiastic crowds.
Sir Brian commented on the sight: “So much passion, but so much care too – and a medal for the security man please !!! Signing signing signing – but these good people are not doing business with autographs on E-bay. Big thanks to this lovely group – Japanese fans ALWAYS made us feel like rock stars !!!
“There’s always a lot to think about in the background. There was a good chance here to return the energy – but it was a limitless window of opportunity, but it’s not always possible to do this – and I’m always conscious that someone will be disappointed, and that I don’t have the chance to thank everyone for the kind gifts. Life’s not perfect – you just do your best and hope that there is an understanding. I’m always grateful. Wow ! Japan didn’t lose its spark !!! Bri.”
Incredibly fit for his age, the guitarist can keep performing live for hours on end thanks to his strict daily exercise regime, which he highlighted in another video taken from what appears to be his hotel gym.
Sir Brian shared: “WORKOUT !!! Starting the way I intend to carry on ! 50 minutes of attention to health and intent is a good way to get my stuff old bones working for the day. I’ve been on it for the last six weeks, determined to be fit for this Japan escapade.
“Dear Folks – we pass this way only once ! We get just one chance at living this day to the max. Carpe Diem !!! Seize the day !!! Well, fine words – but we shall see if I can live up to them today !! Certainly grateful to be here in Japan once more – you never know if it’s the last time. Ohayo Gozaimas’ !! Bri.”
Queen and Adam Lambert’s first concert of the tour is at Nagoya’s Vantelin Dome on February 4.
