BYD Seal India launch tomorrow: What to expect from this Tesla Model 3 rival

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of the Seal sedan, marking its debut in the premium electric vehicle market in India. Set for its India debut tomorrow, the Seal will join BYD’s existing lineup, which includes the e6 MPV and the Atto 3 crossover SUV. Globally, the Seal competes with renowned models like the Tesla Model 3.Here, we take a look into what to expect from this EV.
BYD Seal India Launch: Powertrain
The BYD Seal boasts a stylish and aerodynamic design featuring a slanting rooftop. The Seal EV offers two battery pack options: 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. The smaller pack is compatible with single- and dual-motor setups, while the larger is exclusive to all-wheel-drive.
The top variant, with the bigger battery, promises a range of up to 700 km and a 530 hp dual-motor setup for a 3.8-second 0-100 kmph sprint. It remains to be seen what powertrain options are offered in India.

BYD Seal India Launch: Interior and features
The BYD Seal is expected to offer a premium and tech-laden cabin. A standout feature is likely to be the rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, powered and climate-controlled front seats, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, leather upholstery and 19-inch alloy wheels.
For safety features, it will likely get dual front airbags and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) among other features. For the record, the model has already been awarded a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP tests.
BYD Seal: Price and competition
While official pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, it is possible that the BYD Seal will slot into the Rs 60-650 lakh, ex-showroom, price range. This would position it against the likes of Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW i4, and the Kia EV6.
