BYD India has announced that it has started to accept the bookings for the BYD Seal EV. However, the company has not revealed the booking amount. Interested individuals can visit their nearest BYD dealership to book the Seal and the EV will be launched in the Indian market on March 5 2023 and the deliveries are expected to begin from April 2024.

The BYD Seal will be bought to India via the CBU (completely built unit) route with prices expected to start from Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).Customers who book the BYD Seal by April 30 will have the opportunity to receive a complimentary UEFA match ticket and round-trip flight ticket from India to the match city.

As per rumours, the BYD Seal in India will be offered with an 82.5kWh battery pack paired with a PMSM electric motor mounted on the rear axle which puts out 230hp of power and 360Nm of torque. It has a claimed range of 570km on the WLTP cycle and BYD claims a 0-100kph time of 5.9 seconds. The battery can be charged at speeds of up to 150kW it takes just 37 minutes to charge from 10-80 percent. However, using the regular 11kW AC charger, it takes 8.6 hours to charge from 0-100 per cent.

Talking about the design of the Seal EV, design is inspired by the Ocean X concept car. The EV gets an all-glass roof, flush-fitting door handles four boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, a split headlamp design and a full-width LED light bar at the rear. In terms of dimensions, the EV measures 4,800mm in length, 1875mm in width and 1460 mm in height. The BYD Seal also gets a 50:50 weight distribution. The Seal has a wheelbase of 2920 mm. Moving on to the inside, the Seal EV gets a rotating massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system similar to Atto 3 and E6. The EV also features a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and head-up display.

The sedan has secured five out of five for adult and child occupant protection. In adult occupant protection the EV has scored 89 per cent, in child occupant protection, it has scored 87 per cent. In vulnerable road users, the sedan has secured 82 per cent and in safety assistance, it has secured 76 per cent. Talking about the overall crash performance, the Seal sedan received predominantly ‘Good’ and ‘Adequate’ ratings for frontal, lateral, and rear impact tests as per Euro NCAP.
