You can always count on Cardi B to make a bold statement on the red carpet, no matter what the occasion is. But the rapper certainly brought her best fashion forward at the 2024 Met Gala tonight. Straying from the fashion pack, the star chose an avant-garde creation designed by Windowsen—one of fashion’s coolest emerging labels.
Windowsen designer Sensen Lii—who hails from China but is now based in Antwerp—has become known for futuristic, alien-like creations (including his bug-eye shades and monstrous heels). For Cardi B, the designer crafted a special gown that channeled gothic glamour: Her black, off-the-shoulder silhouette came with mounds of tulle and a sweeping train.
The head-turning look follows tradition at the Met. Every year, Cardi B is one of the event’s most theatrical and exuberant red carpet dressers. Remember the rapper’s 2019 Thom Browne oxblood gown, complete with 30,000 feathers and 44-carat ruby nipples? Or how about 2022, when she showed up in an ornate Versace column gown (and Versace convertible)? When it comes to her Met fashions, nothing is off limits for the star—and she channeled that risk-taking energy once again for the Met Gala this evening.
