Catherine, Princess of Wales, and her husband Prince William have been “moved” by the support of well-wishers following her shock caner diagnosis, a statement from Kensington Palace has revealed.

It comes just a day after the 42-year-old royal announced she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for an undisclosed cancer discovered in test results following abdominal surgery in January.

“The prince and princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness,” the palace statement said on Sunday.

“They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”

Support for the princess has been plastered across most of the major British newspapers, but also in heartfelt messages from those dear to her.

Kate’s brother James Middleton was one of them — he shared a heartwarming tribute to his sister on Saturday.

“Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too,” he wrote on social media.

At home, Kate announced she was also being comforted by her husband.

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, too,” she said in the video announcement released on Friday local time, announcing her diagnosis.

“As is the love, support and kindness that is being shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also released a statement supporting Kate following the revelation of the diagnosis, which had kept her away from the public eye for months.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” Harry and Meghan said despite a strained relationship with the prince and princess in recent years.

The flood of support comes after widespread speculation about Kate’s health, and fresh conspiracies sparked by a photoshopped image Kate released for Mother’s Day in the UK.

But even some of those who poked fun at the princess over the Photoshop faux pas, have rescinded their comments — with actress Blake Lively apologising for her comments following Kate’s health announcement.
