Ozempic has become a hot topic when it comes to weight loss — with some celebrities confirming they have used the drug while others staunchly deny it.

It wasn’t surprising that earlier this month, Kelly Osbourne shared how she is a fan of Ozempic after initially criticizing the trendy drug. But just because she thinks it’s fine for people to use doesn’t mean she takes the stuff.

In fact, the former reality star denied having used it after welcoming son Sidney in 2022.

“’I know everybody thinks I took Ozempic. I did not take Ozempic. I don’t know where that came from,” she told Extra in a recent interview.

Osbourne claimed her rapid weight loss came after she developed gestational diabetes during pregnancy after she “cut out sugar and carbohydrates.”

Ozempic is a prescription injectable drug used to help lower blood sugar in people with Type 2 diabetes, but the discovery that it could be used for weight loss has become popular in — and away from — Hollywood.

“The current trend seems to be ‘confusion’ as witnessed by demand for injectable drugs like Ozempic to stop hunger,” Dr. Barry Sears told the Toronto Sun.

“Nutrition is a science, not a popularity contest,” Sears said, before conceding, “The continuing confusion of popular diets will make injectable weight loss drugs the number-one weight loss approach for some time to come.”

Because the medication targets the brain, some people who don’t necessarily need the drugs are using them to slim down — like these stars:

Sharon Osbourne

Osbourne’s mother, Sharon Osbourne, opened up about taking Ozempic to lose weight and revealed last year that she lost 42 pounds.

Osbourne admitted that despite getting off the drug, she hasn’t been able to gain back some of the weight.

“I want to because I feel I’m too skinny,” she told the Daily Mail. “I’m under 100 pounds, and I don’t want to be.”

She added: “You can lose so much weight and it’s easy to become addicted to that, which is very dangerous.”

Tracy Morgan

The actor-comedian surprised fans when he revealed to Today co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that he was using Ozempic.

“That’s how this weight got lost,” he said when discussing his health journey. “I went and got a prescription and I got Ozempic. And I ain’t letting it go!”

But he later told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that he “learned to out-eat Ozempic” and has gained 40 pounds.

Oprah Winfrey

After years of being on Weight Watchers’ board of directors, she decided to quit to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest — that being her use of an unnamed weight-loss drug, which she claims she takes as needed.

“The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for,” she told People.

“I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people, and particularly myself.”
