Celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge has announced that he will be stepping back from his popular Sydney restaurant, The Castlereigh.
The beloved eatery will remain in the hands of Fassnidge’s business partner’s Clayton Ries and Darren Ong.
Managing restaurants is just one of the many projects on Fassnidge’s plate, but on Saturday, the celebrity chef said it was time to trim the fat from a brimming schedule.

Between spending time with his wife and teenage children, he would be working on My Kitchen Rules, Better Homes and Gardens, Food Travel Series, and another undisclosed project involving Fassnidge in a caravan, and be on the road for most of the year.
That means his hospitality company by Fassnidge, and The Castlereigh by Fassnidge, “is no more,” he announced on social media.
“I’ve learned (that) as much as you think you can do everything, you can’t. Something has to give… And I’m getting old,” he said.
“It’s the first time in a lifetime that I haven’t had a restaurant to run for a year.
“Clayton and Darren will take that over and do what they do, what they’ve always done anyway, and it’ll be as good as it’s always been.
“Wishing my friends every success as I disappear into the mist for a year.”
Ries, who is also a partner in hospitality company Social Colin, called his food journey with Fassnidge, and his wife Jane Hyland, “an amazing seven years.”
“With all the projects they are working on, a decision has been made to divide and conquer,” he said.
“Thank you for everything.”
Ries also revealed that he and Ong will be working with chefs Peter Boyd and Ashok Tamang on a new menu to bring The Castlereagh into its new chapter.
And Fassnidge assured his followers: “I’ll be dining in there with you.”
