Microsoft has announced new updates for Xbox. the update brings several new features, improvements and changes. This includes support for Japanese language, new Compact mode, free Play days and more. Among these, the new Compact Mode is the most notable feature that the update brings to the Xbox platform.
Compact Mode: What is it?
The new Compact Mode is a new mode designed for all Windows devices, including the handheld consoles like ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, etc.Compact Mode is basically a new feature that aims to improve the user interface and gaming experience for users on small screen devices.
With Compact Mode enabled, the sidebar automatically collapses into icons to offer more space to browse content. Microsoft has also partnered with Asus to offer the new Compact mode by default on its handheld devices.
Steps to enable Compact Mode
The new Compact Mode is now rolling out ad to enable it manually, users can head to their profile at the top left corner of the Xbox app and turn on the Compact Mode toggle.
Other features and changes
Microsoft has announced that new games and benefits are coming to Game Pass. Also, they are making it easier to keep up with what’s new via unread notifications within the notifications dropdown on the Xbox app on PC.
Microsoft has also added a new Gaming Services Repair Tool. It’s a dedicated tool to fix any issues with gaming services or missing content when launching the Xbox app on PC. To use it, click on profile icon at the top left corner and select Support.
How to get these new features
The update is rolling out as a part of the latest version of Xbox app. To get it, open Microsoft Store and search for the Xbox app from the search bar. Open the listing page for the Xbox app and then tap on Update option.
