“This one is for my corporate girlies – the best interview advice I ever got was what to ask at the end of the interview,” she said in an Instagram video.

“I use this advice in the interview process and every time I ask it, the interviewer is always like, ‘Wow that’s such a good question.’ So when you get to the end and they’re like, ‘Do you have any questions?’ Your answer should always be yes.

“I’ll always ask, ‘What does excellence look like in this role’.”

She explained how the eight-word question can make you stand out from the crowd.

“It gives the interviewer the opportunity to explain to you a little bit more about the day-to-day functions of the role you’re interviewing for,” Catherine said.

“It also gives you a baseline for what excellence looks like and what you’re going to need to do to excel in this role.

“It shows that you’re really interested in the job and you plan on doing an incredible job when you get it… It lets them know that you’re serious about performing and exceeding their expectations.”

Her video has been viewed more than 1.3 million times — with many weighing in on the question.

“I ask this every time and have gotten almost every job I’ve interviewed for,” one said.

Another suggested: “I’m a recruiter and I totally agree – what a great question.”

One shared: “Thank you for wording it so succinctly.”

Another added: “Great advice, I agree. That way expectations are aligned.”
