Passengers on a recent Carnival Cruise Line trip from Long Beach, California to Catalina Island received a shock during their first night onboard. A water line broke between decks on the Carnival Radiance and began to flood the deck below. A pair of cruise-goers claim on social media that it took four hours before assistance arrived to address the severe problem.

Amber, TikTok user @dawn7877, posted two vivid videos from the cruise ship of water coming down from the deck’s ceiling, according to the Daily Dot. The first video looked ripped for a Hollywood disaster blockbuster. The only thing missing was the torrent of water rushing down the hallway. The second video was the rough reality. Amber showed that all her belongings were soaked as Carnival staff dealt with the burst line in the hallway. Amber’s partner Ryan Mcguyer reposted the videos to Facebook and went into further detail about what happened:

“We just want to sleep. There was water pouring down all the walls. It ruined everything. It ruined all our luggage. There was people yelling and screaming, running down the hallway with life vests. We thought the boat was going down, literally seeming like a scene from “Titanic” and Carnival did nothing for us. Told us to send them an email. Guest services on the boat did nothing for us. We were without a room and we had two rooms for over 14 hours. We spent over two days without any clothing except for the clothes that we ran out of our room with, so we were stuck in pajamas for two days. They didn’t try to do anything for us. That was our first cruise. Our kids are traumatized and will never want to go on another cruise.”

Carnival Radiance went on its maiden voyage in 2000 as the Carnival Victory. The cruise ship was renovated and renamed in 2021. It’s surprising that the ship would have such a basic maintenance issue only two years after a refit, but anything’s possible in the cruise ship industry. An expedition ship ran aground in the Arctic just last month. Honestly, you’re better off taking a gamble with an airline.
