Delhi Air Pollution: Air Quality Remains ‘Poor’; Check Tops 3 Most Polluted Cities In India

New Delhi: The air quality in the national capital continues to remain in the ‘poor’ category for the second consecutive day, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 291, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data registered at 7:30 am. Even though the air quality has improved, it still secured the third position today in the list of the 10 most polluted cities across India. Notably, the national capital has experienced AQI in ‘severe’ to ‘very poor’ range over the past few weeks. The improvement in the air was witnessed in after the light showers on December 3 which improved the AQI from the ‘severe’ zone to the ‘poor’ category.

The most polluted city in the India was Begusarai with 448 AQI, while Katihar was in the second position with 354 AQI. The data was recorded till December 6 till 4 pm.

Delhi Air Pollution: Weather

Delhi witnessed a minimum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius and a day light temperature of 26.4 degrees. The IMD predicted clear sky and shallow fog in the morning which will remain the same until December 9. The weather department has further predicted no rainfall in the National Capital till December 11.

Delhi Air Pollution: AQI In Different Areas

Different areas in Delhi recorded air quality levels in the ‘very poor’ and ‘poor’ categories today, with no location falling into the ‘severe’ category. The highest air pollution level was reported in Jahangirpuri, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 334. On the other hand, Aya Nagar recorded the best air quality in Delhi, with an AQI of 176, falling into the ‘moderate’ range.

Other areas experiencing elevated pollution levels include Nehru Nagar with an AQI of 331, Wazirpur with an AQI of 323, Ashok Vihar with an AQI of 322, Punjabi Bagh with an AQI of 321, Mundka with an AQI of 316, ITO with an AQI of 312, Rohini with an AQI of 305, R K Puram with an AQI of 304, and Dwarka with an AQI of 302.

Delhi Air Pollution: Places With Better Air Quality

Areas around Delhi reported better air than Delhi are – Noida whose AQI stood at 240, in Greater Noida AQI stood at 246, in Ghaziabad AQI stood at 252, in Faridabad AQI stood at 232 and in Gurugram AQI stood at 222. All these places registered ‘poor’ air quality.
