Apple has recently released the second public beta of iOS 17, just three weeks after the first beta. This means that public beta testers, in addition to registered developers, can now download the new update. The release comes a week after Apple rolled out the fourth developer beta of iOS 17, which made changes to the Messaging app, removed the Photo Stream feature, and introduced a new option to disable AirDrop transfer in Settings.
Not only has Apple released the second public beta of iOS 17, but they have also rolled out public betas for iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10, macOS Sonoma, and HomePod software 17 to users in the Apple Beta Software Program.
With the iOS 17 update, users will be able to try out new features on their iPhones before the official release and provide feedback through the Feedback Assistant app. The update brings changes to the standby feature for landscape mode information display, as well as improvements to the Phone, Messaging, and FaceTime apps. Mac users with macOS Sonoma will also see enhancements in Messages and FaceTime. TVOS 17 enables FaceTime on Apple TV for the first time, and watchOS 10 introduces a new interface for Apple Watch apps.
According to Apple, the official release of iOS 17 will coincide with the launch of their new iPhones, which is expected to be in September. However, it is important to note that beta updates are intended for testing purposes and may come with bugs or glitches that could impact the iPhone’s performance, such as unresponsiveness, poor battery performance, or app malfunctions. Users are advised to proceed with caution and back up their data before installing the software.
To get the iOS 17 public beta on your phone, follow these steps:
1. Visit the Apple Beta Software Program page and install iOS 17 public beta.
2. Sign up or sign in using your Apple ID.
3. Once signed in, go to Settings > General Settings.
4. Tap on Software Update and the new Beta updates menu will appear under the Automatic Updates option.
5. Select iOS 17 Public Beta and return to the updates page.
6. The update will now be available. Tap on download and install the new update on your iPhone.
