Dr Chris Brown has urgently warned pet owners after making an unwelcome discovery on his beloved dog, Buzzy.
The vet found two paralysis ticks on his skin, reminding his followers that tick season is officially here.

He shared a series of photos showing him discovering the ticks, a close-up of the ticks on the skin and the ticks once removed.
“So this was an unpleasant surprise (swipe) 🤯 I’ve just found two paralysis ticks on Buzzy. And it’s early August,” he said.
“So consider this the official warning that tick season is here …
“Buzzy is fine. Thankfully the ticks were only about two days old and, because he’d just started prevention, they were dead.”
Chris went on to share “all you need to know” about the parasite.
He said tick season starting in August is not “abnormal” — but it was unusual this early in the month.“The combination of warmer winter weather and some rain is the signal ticks have been waiting for 🌧️ ☀️,” Chris said.
“Start by knowing what you’re looking for. The pics should help,” he suggested.
“If you live in a paralysis tick-prone area (along the east coast of Australia), then get on your tick prevention now.
“Also, still check for ticks with your fingers using the ‘tickle fingers’ motion.
“They could be anywhere but 80 per cent of ticks are found from the front legs forward. Buzzy’s two ticks were on his neck.”
The Channel 7 presenter said ticks feel like “a small skin lump”.
“But unlike a lump, they have legs. In good light, you’ll see they’re grey in colour and attached by their mouth.”
